These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of this website, which publishes campaign and public-affairs information related to Elect Mari Leavitt and Washington’s 28th Legislative District. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Who We Are

The Site is associated with the Elect Mari Leavitt campaign and Friends of Mari Leavitt (D). Content may include campaign biography, news about legislation, endorsements, volunteer opportunities, and links to contribute or follow the campaign on social media. This Site is a campaign communications property and is not the official website of the Washington State Legislature.

2. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

You may use the Site for lawful, personal, and informational purposes. You agree not to: attempt to disrupt or overload the Site; scrape or harvest data in a manner that harms Site performance or violates law; post or transmit malware; impersonate the campaign or any person; use the Site to harass election workers, candidates, or constituents; or use automated means to submit spam through forms. We may suspend access that appears abusive.

3. Political and Informational Nature of Content

Articles and pages describe campaign positions, legislative work, and community issues such as veterans’ services, education, workforce training, housing, election-worker protections, and extreme-weather preparedness. Content may summarize bills, press releases, and news coverage. It is provided for general information and campaign communication. It is not legal, financial, medical, or professional advice, and it is not an official government record. Always consult primary sources such as the Washington State Legislature bill information system for authoritative legislative text.

4. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise noted, Site design, logos (including the Elect Mari Leavitt brand marks displayed on the Site), text, and original graphics are owned by or licensed to the campaign committee or its licensors. You may share links to public pages and quote brief excerpts with attribution for non-commercial news reporting or personal political discussion. You may not republish substantial portions of the Site as your own, remove paid-for-by disclaimers, or use campaign marks in a way that suggests false endorsement.

Third-party trademarks (news outlets, legislature, social platforms) belong to their owners. Stock or licensed photographs used as article imagery remain subject to their license terms.

5. User Submissions

If you submit comments, endorsement text, volunteer information, or other materials, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that material for campaign communications and Site operation, consistent with our Privacy Policy. You represent that you have the right to submit the material and that it does not violate law or others’ rights.

6. Third-Party Links and Services

The Site links to external resources including housedemocrats.wa.gov, leg.wa.gov, news organizations, donation processors, and social networks. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms.

7. Advertising

The Site may display third-party advertisements, including Google AdSense. Ad content is provided by third parties. We do not endorse every advertised product or service. Advertising technologies are subject to your cookie preferences and our Privacy Policy.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FRIENDS OF MARI LEAVITT AND ITS AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR OPPORTUNITY ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SITE IN THE PRIOR TWELVE MONTHS (IF ANY), WHICHEVER IS GREATER. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

11. Campaign Finance and Paid-For-By Notice

Political advertising and campaign materials on this Site are paid for by Friends of Mari Leavitt (D), PO Box 65195, Tacoma, WA 98466, unless another disclaimer appears on a specific page. Contribution and volunteer rules are subject to Washington State and federal law where applicable. Contribution links may direct you to regulated platforms such as ActBlue.

12. Changes

We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction apply. Courts located in Pierce County, Washington, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, subject to applicable law.
