Washington National Guard firefighting pay raise

April 19, 2019

Governor Jay Inslee signed a bill into law this morning allowing guardsmen to get $12 an hour, the state’s minimum wage. For the last 30 years they received a military salary based on a formula involving the federal minimum wage which paid them almost $11 an hour last year. KING 5 reports.

Inslee signs law intended to reduce hazing incidents after WSU freshman’s death

Sam’s Law will expand the definition of hazing and create requirements for colleges to provide hazing education and training to students and employees. It also will require colleges to publicly report findings of misconduct by student groups.
